Return, Refund & Exchange Policy

At Washington Diamond, we want you to be completely confident and satisfied with your purchase. That’s why we offer a 10-day 100% money-back guarantee on all eligible items, along with flexible return timing for special occasions like proposals.

Return Eligibility

  • Item must be unworn, undamaged, and unaltered
  • All original tags and packaging must be intact
  • Return must occur within 10 days of receipt, unless an extension has been pre-approved
  • Special orders, altered items, personalized jewelry, and completed repair/restoration work are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged

How to Return an Item

Please contact us at support@washingtondiamond.com to initiate a return or request a proposal-related return extension. All returns must be pre-approved. Unapproved or late items may not be accepted.

Local Customers – In-Person Drop-Off Recommended

If you are in the Northern Virginia / D.C. Metro area, we recommend securely dropping off your return in person at our store location:

Drop-offs must be scheduled — please contact us to arrange a convenient time.

Shipping Returns (Online & Phone Orders)

  • Items must be shipped within 10 days of original receipt
  • Must be fully insured and registered via U.S. Postal Service
  • Shipping is at the customer’s expense

Once your return is approved, we will provide full shipping instructions by email.

Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected, your refund will be processed as follows:

  • Credit card payments will be refunded electronically to your original card within 5 business days
  • Cash or check payments will be refunded by corporate check within 7 business days
  • Refunds will be for the full item amount excluding original shipping costs

Please allow additional time for your bank or card issuer to post the refund to your account. If more than 15 business days have passed since your return was approved, please contact us.

Exchanges

Exchanges are handled the same way as returns. After approval and inspection, a new item can be purchased separately, and any balance from the original item will be refunded within 5 business days or via check payment.

Extended Return Window for Engagement Rings

We understand that proposals don’t always happen right away. If you’re purchasing an engagement ring or similar item and may need extra time beyond the 10-day return window, just let us know! We are happy to provide return extensions when requested in advance.
